Delete Programs

Why Delete Programs?

What resides on your PC says a lot about you from files, images, and programs. Anyone who has access to your PC can find out your personal business and interests simply by looking at your program list.

Unused programs take up valuable space on your PC and can conflict with other programs. If you’ve downloaded questionable programs from the internet, they may even carry a hidden payload – spyware.

Simply deleting programs isn’t enough. You need to thoroughly remove them and their related files to avoid causing damage to your PC and to improve your PC’s performance.

Did you know that when you delete something from your hard drive, it’s not really gone? Deleting files only removes their file reference from the file system table. The file itself remains until another file or program overwrites it. Even then, advance computer forensic tools can probably get it back.

How to Delete Programs

In Windows, you can remove many programs using the Add or Remove Programs tool. To do this, go to the Start button, choose Control Panel and click on Add and Remove programs. A list of all programs that can be removed this way will display. Find the program you wish to remove, click “change/remove” and follow the prompts for removal.

Not all programs will be found in this list however. If you want to delete a program for good, you should use a program shredder.

Program shredders will permanently delete files, folders and programs from your hard drive to make sure that no one can ever recover them. Using a program shredder to clean your web tracks is a crucial step towards ensuring your privacy.

Anyone with the right tools can undelete program files and data, even after you’ve uninstalled or emptied the recycle bin. Use a heavy duty tool to protect yourself from snoops.

Think no one snoops on your PC? Do you trust your computer repair shop not to peek into your confidential programs and files? What about your co-workers or your boss? What about when you’re ready to throw away your PC? Don’t let dumpster divers get the better of you! Use a program shredder to thoroughly erase your hard drive.

Risks of Program Shredders

Anytime you delete a file, folder or program permanently using a file or program shredder, you must realize it’s gone for good. With that in mind, most shredder programs come with safeguards in place to make sure you don’t accidentally shred the wrong file.

These programs reside on your PC in “stealth” mode and offer one button access to their features. This means you don’t need to worry about being discovered. You can protect your privacy without anyone knowing the steps you are taking to guard your confidential history and documents. You can even set up regular scans and clear your temporary files automatically.

Using a file shredder and program shredder will make sure the files and programs you want gone for good are truly gone for good, safe from snoops, thieves and law enforcement.
