Clean Address Bar
Ever notice how the address bar of Internet Explorer sometimes self-completes? This can be handy if you are going to re-visit a website. You simply start entering in the web address and Internet Explorer finishes it up for you.
The problem with this is that anyone who uses your PC can see where you’ve been simply by clicking the down arrow next it. Do you really want your boss, co-workers or family members to see where you’ve been?
Clearing address bar entries is a good move to cover your web tracks but one that must be done frequently in order to be effective. This is because each time you surf the internet, more entries are added. Clear address bar techniques are simple and easy to do. Bear in mind however that deleting address bar addresses manually isn’t always enough to thoroughly protect your privacy.
To delete address bar history, open Internet Explorer and choose Tools, Internet Options. Depending on what version of Internet Explorer will affect which buttons to click. Go to the General Tab and if you see a section about Temporary Internet Files, choose Delete Temporary Files. If you see a section called Browser History, choose Delete, and then choose Delete History. You can take measures a step further and delete cookies, form data, temporary internet files and passwords too.
Netscape users have a similar problem. The Netscape location bar works in much the same way as the address bar in Internet Explorer. If you want to delete the contents of the Netscape location bar, a few simple steps will do it but just like the address bar clearing, these measures will need to be done regularly.
In Navigator 4.5 or above, pick the Edit menu, choose Preferences from the list and find the Navigator category. Next, go to the History sub-category and click the Clear Location Bar button.
While these steps are easy to do, there is a better way to cover your web tracks. Let a powerful tool like Privacy Controls from ParetoLogic do it for you. This software works in the background, discreetly removing all traces of your internet browsing so you don’t need to worry about it anymore.
